Madewell and Barnea kosher steakhouse ink last month’s top leases

December was a good month for restaurants, with a kosher restaurant, a Brazilian steakhouse and a ramen restaurant securing three of the top spots on the list of last month’s largest retail leases. Other businesses on the list include a pilates studio, a hair salon and a clothing brand. 

1) Madewell | 109 North 6th Street | Williamsburg — 8,300 sf

The clothing store signed a 10-year lease to consolidate its two Brooklyn stores along North 6th Street. Steve Merkle of Newmark represented the tenant while Hank O’Donnell and Christopher DeCrosta of GoodSpace represented the landlord, MARK.

2) Barnea Bistro | 114 West 47th Street | Times Square — 7,602 sf

The tony kosher restaurant inked a 15-year lease. James Famularo of Meridian Retail Leasing represented the tenant while a three-member Durst Organization team, including Tom Bow and Rocco Romeo, represented the landlord in house, alongside Matthew Ogle and Corey Zolcinski of JLL.

3) Max Deals | 1049 Ogden Avenue | Highbridge — 5,800 sf

The home goods retailer signed a 20-year lease at the base of a new residential construction. Dov Bleich and Daniel Sharabi of Tri-State Commercial Realty represented both the tenant and the landlord, Skyward Developers.

4) Fogo de Chão | 3 World Trade Center | Financial District — 5,009 sf

The Brazilian steakhouse signed a new lease in the Oculus mall. The space is owned by Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield.

5) Form50 | 135 East 46th Street | Grand Central — 5,000 sf

The pilates brand expanded its lease. George Skaliarinis of Kassin Sabbagh Realty represented both the tenant and the landlord, SL Green Realty.

6) Flora Salon | 89 Kent Avenue | Williamsburg — 3,000 sf

The beauty salon signed a 10-year lease with landlord Ronit Realty.

7) Leila Heller Gallery | 22 East 80th Street | Upper East Side — 2,800 sf

The gallery signed a lease steps away from the Metropolitan Museum. A three-member Judson CRE team including Nicholas Judson and Wendy McDonald represented both the tenant and the landlord, Kar Fifth Corporation.

8) Hindman | 32 East 67th Street | Upper East Side — 2,500 sf

The auction house inked a lease for the space that formerly housed the Hammer Gallery. Matt Ogle of JLL represented the tenant while Nicholas Judson and Wendy McDonald of Judson CRE represented the landlord, Didier Aaron.

9) NY Gifts | 366 Fifth Avenue | Garment District — 2,258 sf

The gift and souvenir shop signed a lease a block north of the Empire State Building. Mark Kapnick of Lee & Associates NYC represented the tenant while Rick Brickell of Joseph P Day Realty represented the landlord in house, alongside Ariel Schuster and Tyler King of Newmark.

10) Yasubee Authentic Ramen | 322 Eighth Avenue | Chelsea — 2,138 sf

The Japanese restaurant inked a 15-year lease. Shai Baradarian and Tamir Baradarian of eRealty Advisors USA represented the tenant while Andrew Taub and Benjamin Birnbaum of Newmark represented the landlord, GFP Real Estate.
